September is National Emergency Preparedness Month

It is now just one day until "National Emergency Preparedness Month". Don't wait until it is too late! Be prepared NOW for an emergency! It is better to have a Survival Kit and not need it, then to need it and not have it.

We have two kits in our home near the exit and one in our car. We wouldn't be recommending something this important if we did not do it ourselves.

Each Guardian brand kit comes with a FREE Survival Knife!

Hidden Camera Results in Arrests

You may have seen the news story recently about the woman in Florida, USA that watched from her computer at work while two burglars walk through her home and prepare to steal her valuables. How did she do this? She had a hidden camera installed in her home that was disguised as an air freshener. She had it equipped with an IP connection so she could view the feed from any computer with an internet connection. She called 911 while the suspects were in her home and they were apprehended and arrested. A copy of the video in part is provided below. Keep in mind that the actual quality of the video as she saw it live was much clearer than this copy, so should you choose to purchase an IP camera, you will get great video quality.

Surveillance cameras are just part of how you can and should be securing your home and protecting yourself and your family. Motion sensors and other security alarms are recommended. You can also benefit from economical solutions such as door braces and biometric door locks for access control.

Regardless of what you choose to use or even where you get it, the important thing is that you do what you can in order to keep your family safe.

Time To Think About Pool Safety

According to the American Institute for Preventive Medicine: "Drowning is the 4th leading cause of accidental death in the United States, claiming 4,000 lives annually. Approximately one-third are children under the age of 14."

In California, drowning is the number one cause of accidental death for children 1-4 years of age.

But, do you really need these statistics to convince you to do everything you can to prevent this from happening to your child or grandchild?

Our Swimming Pool Alarm is an essential addition to your already existing pool access prevention since a child can still find their way into the water.

The Pool Alarm is an electronic monitoring system that automatically sounds an alarm when children or pets fall into your unsupervised pool. It's portable, self-contained and light weight. The unit is simple to operate. Entry into the pool will be detected by the Pool Alarm's electronic sensor, triggering a loud pulsating alarm at the unit and inside your house from the remote receiver.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Please help Desert Shield Personal Safety in educating and preventing sexual violence.

According to the National Violence Against Women Survey, "1 in 6 American women has been the victim of rape or attempted rape."

"Perpetrators of sexual assault can be friends, acquaintances, family members, or strangers. Working together, we can raise awareness, change attitudes, and help prevent sexual assault."

Being aware of your surroundings and prepared to defend yourself are just a couple of important steps in keeping safe against sexual assault. Many women have found that keeping a small defense pepper spray in their purse or pocket has allowed them the confidence that they would be ready to defend in the event that an attacker approached them. Others use a combination of self defense products such as stun guns, personal alarms and the new personal C2 TASER has become the weapon of choice for the safety conscious woman due to it's compact size and ease of use.

Please help protect our innocent mothers, sisters, daughters and other friends and relatives from becoming victims of sexual violence.
